Kentucky State Mandate Tax preparers who file 11 or more individual income tax returns are required to file their client?s returns electronically. Preparers with a valid reason to be exempted from this mandate may provide a letter of explanation and request for waiver to the electronic filing coordinator. ERO retains Form 8879-K. Form 8879-K is not required for federal/state e-filed returns with a federal PIN. Acceptance in the Kentucky e-file program is automatic with acceptance in the federal e-file program.
