  • Extension Mailing Address:
    If you request an extension of time to file your federal income tax return by filing federal Form 4868 with the IRS, you are entitled to receive the same extension on your Arkansas income tax return. When your Arkansas return is complete and ready to file, check the box on page 1 of the return indicating you filed a federal extension. If you do not file a federal extension, you can file an Arkansas extension using Form AR1055 before the filing due date of April 15th.

  • Electronic Filing:
    Your Arkansas return must be filed as a paper return if you do not file your federal return electronically. The following types of returns are excluded from electronic filing for tax year 2016: 1. Amended Returns. 2. Prior Year returns - Tax Year 2013 and prior. 3. AR1000S ? Arkansas Short Individual Income Tax Form. 4. Tax returns that have a different filing status from the Federal return. Exception: Those using Married Filing Joint or Married Filing Separately on the Same Return. 5. Online Filed Tax Returns for First Time Filers. 6. Unlinked Returns (State Only). Taxpayers who do not qualify for electronic filing must file a paper return. The State of Arkansas is requesting additional information this filing season in an effort to combat identity tax fraud and ensure that your hard-earned tax refund goes to you. Providing information from your driver?s license or state-issued identification card will help protect your identity and could help process your return quicker. However, this is only a request. Information from your driver?s license is not required, and your return will be processed without the additional information. The information is being requested solely to help protect your identity and ensure a more-secure refund.
